A World Class Tourist Destination Needs a World Class Advocate
That is the reason for the Friends of the Brooklyn Bridge
Friends of the Brooklyn Bridge is a program of the Dumbo Improvement District. Founded by community stakeholders in 2006, the Dumbo Improvement District is a non profit 501(c)3 organized to advocate on behalf of DUMBO’s businesses, residents and property owners for a physical and economic environment that attracts visitors, workers and residents alike to this preeminent creative community.
The Dumbo Improvement District manages the DUMBO Business Improvement District (BID), serving an area from York Street to the waterfront, from Old Fulton to Bridge Street. The Dumbo Improvement District is one of 60 business improvement districts (BIDs) in the City of New York. Please see www.dumbonyc.org for more information.
Funding for the overhaul of the Brooklyn Bridge Pedestrian Walkway was generously supported by Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz; 33rd Council District Council Member, David Yassky; and the City of New York. The improvements were completed in conjunction with the New York City Department of Transportation, New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Art Commission of the City of New York, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs – Percent for Art.
Friends of the Brooklyn Bridge takes great pride in their support of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Borough of Brooklyn. Please join us in sharing a stake in one of New York's most iconic landmarks. Help us to supplement maintenance and upkeep of these beautiful improvements by supporting the Dumbo Improvement District’s Friends of the Brooklyn Bridge.
